At its Galaxy Unpacked event in New York on July 9, 2025, Samsung launched its next-generation foldable smartphones—the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and the more affordable Z Flip 7 FE—alongside the new Galaxy Watch 8 lineup, which includes advanced AI health features.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 sets a new milestone for the series as the thinnest and lightest model yet, measuring just 8.9 mm when folded and 4.2 mm when open. It features an expansive 8-inch QXGA Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display and a 6.5-inch cover screen, both supporting 120 Hz refresh rates. Under the hood sits the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, supported by up to 16 GB RAM and 1 TB storage. Photography receives a major upgrade with a 200 MP primary camera, a 12 MP ultrawide, and a 10 MP telephoto lens, powered by Samsung’s ProVisual Engine for enhanced color accuracy and night-time performance. Official pricing starts at $1,999, with pre-orders beginning immediately and shipping slated for July 25.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 doubles down on productivity and style, featuring a larger 4.1-inch Super AMOLED cover screen—branded as FlexWindow—with 120 Hz refresh and ultra-narrow bezels. Inside, it offers a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, powered by the Exynos 2500 chipset (or Snapdragon in some regions), dual rear cameras (50 MP wide + 12 MP ultrawide), and a 10 MP selfie cam. The 4,300 mAh battery supports up to 31 hours of video playback. It’s available in Jet Black, Blue Shadow, Coral Red, and an online-exclusive Mint, starting at $1,099.
For budget-conscious users, the Z Flip 7 FE offers similar internals—Exynos 2400 processor, 6.7-inch internal screen, 3.4-inch cover display, and a 4,000 mAh battery—with lowered storage configurations and AI tools. It starts at $899, with availability from July 25.
All foldable phones come with One UI 8 atop Android 16 and built-in Galaxy AI features—including photo editing tools, live translation, and Galaxy Gemini integration on the cover screen.
Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Watch 8 series, including a Classic model with a traditional rotating bezel and a rugged Ultra variant. Every watch in the lineup features Wear OS 6, enhanced health tracking—including sleep apnea detection—an antioxidant-level sensor carried over from the Ultra, and Google’s Gemini AI built-in for voice tasks and on-device intelligence. The Watch 8 starts at $349.99 (Wi‑Fi), Classic at $500, and the Watch 8 Ultra (titanium, 64 GB storage) at $649–650.
Samsung’s expanded lineup reflects its ambition to weave AI into daily life. The larger cover screen on the Z Flip 7 allows quick access to AI-driven content and routines without opening the phone. Meanwhile, AI-powered health features in the watches—such as antioxidant tracking and sleep apnea insights—aim to shift wearables from passive monitors to proactive wellness tools.
Initial reactions suggest the Z Fold 7 shines as a productivity powerhouse with its ultra-thin profile, upgraded camera system, and seamless multi-tasking experience. The Z Flip 7 is praised for its improved cover display and powerful internals in a pocketable form, while the FE variant offers much of the same value at a lower price. The Watch 8 series stakes Samsung’s claim in health-focused wearables, with the Ultra appealing to adventurers and fitness enthusiasts.
Combined, these devices illustrate Samsung’s broader strategy to build a holistic ecosystem where hardware advances, AI intelligence, and fitness and productivity tools converge. With pre-orders now open and shipping expected July 25, Samsung is laying the groundwork for a new era of smart tech integration.
